Country Events

Fox Grant have supported local ploughing matches and hedge laying competitions for many years now.

Hedgelaying is a country craft that goes back hundreds of years but it is still well practiced and important to our farmers today.  Technology has moved on a pace but it is important to keep our hedgelaying traditions and countryside skills alive.

Ploughing matches are a great form of family entertainment and there’s nothing as satisfying as seeing a horse, farmer and plough move in perfect harmony to cultivate a field.  Often ploughs that are 100 years old can be seen being pulled by our traditional shire horses.

Without these events, these traditions and skills may be lost and become nothing more than a picture and paragraph in a history book.

Fox Grant will be announcing which matches and competitions it will be supporting in January 2018, please keep an eye on our news and Facebook page for more information.
