The birth place of William Shakespeare, Stratford Upon Avon is, as the name suggests, set upon the River Avon. The town is surrounded by the beautiful Warwick countryside and has its own racecourse.

Schools in Warwickshire

There are five grammar schools still remaining in Warwickshire, Ashlawn School, Lawrence Sheriff School, Rugby High School, Alcester Grammar School, King Edward VI School and Stratford Upon Avon Grammar School. For admissions they are set into two distinct categories, East and South.

There are plenty of other good state schools in Warwickshire too, for example, the Blue Coat Church of England School, Coventry and Higham Lane School, Nuneaton.

For private schools, there are a range of good schools available. Bilton Grange in Rugby is a mainstream independent school for pupils between 4 – 13, Rugby School in Rugby is a coeducational independent school for pupils aged between 11 to 18, The Croft Preparatory School is an independent school for pupils aged between 2 to 11, Warwick Junior School is an independent school for boys aged between 7 to 11, Warwick School, is an independent school for boys aged from 7 to 18.

Rugby

Rugby is a market town which is best known for being the home of the famous coeducational public school and the place where Rugby, the game, first began.

Rugby has a number of restaurants and coffee shops and shopping can be found at the Clock Towers Shopping Centre. There is a cinema and a wide variety of sports clubs to suit all interests. 

Sort after villages around Rugby include, Dunchurch, which is just two miles from the centre of Rugby, Clifton upon Dunsmore and Ashby St Ledgers.

Leamington Spa

Leamington Spa is a beautiful spa town which can be found in central Warwickshire. The town is full of Georgian and Victorian housing and the delightful Royal Pump rooms have now been converted into an arts centre.

If country life is what you’re after, the nearby village of Harbury is worth a look and so are Avon Dassett, Ettington and Pillerton Priors.

Shopping in Leamington Spa is good with shopping available at The Royal Priors Shopping Centre, and the Regent Court Shopping Centre as well as along the high street. Many of the national chains are present and there’s also a great mix of independent retailers.
