The Burgoyne is a Grade II Listed Georgian property, dating back to 1783.  The hotel is named after Mrs Burgoyne-Johnson, a larger than life character who bought the hotel in the 1920’s.  The fireplace that sits in the hotel drawing room today, still bares her family crests.  The hotel was then requisitioned by the RECE regiment in WW2  as a base to train soldiers in what was to become the SAS.
