Fox Grant are delighted to be jointly instructed with Savills to sell The Burgoyne Hotel in the North Yorkshire Dales.
The Burgoyne Hotel sits majestically at the top of the pretty Dales village of Reeth, overlooking the village green, and offers a rare opportunity to purchase a high quality and well regarded hotel and restaurant in an award winning National Park.
Reeth is located in arguably the prettiest of the North Yorkshire Dales, Swaledale and is in striking distance of Wensleydale. The Yorkshire Dales has recently been nominated National Park of the Year 2017 in the BBC Countryfile Magazine annual poll and, with such magnificent scenery, you can certainly see why.
The Burgoyne is a Grade II Listed Georgian property, dating back to 1783. The hotel is named after Mrs Burgoyne-Johnson, a larger than life character who bought the hotel in the 1920’s. The fireplace that sits in the hotel drawing room today, still bares her family crests. The hotel was then requisitioned by the RECE regiment in WW2 as a base to train soldiers in what was to become the SAS.
The Burgoyne is arranged over three floors and benefits from having ten well appointed bedrooms, seven of which are ensuite, a restaurant, commercial kitchen, lounge and drawing room. The hotel is extremely popular as a wedding / celebration venue and also with shooting parties who come to shoot over the famous grouse moors. Guests also include cyclists, walkers, bird watchers, film crews and those attending local popular events including The Swaledale Festival, local cycling events, The Reeth Show and the Leyburn 1940’s weekend.
Whilst the hotel has performed well over recent years there are numerous opportunities to further enhance the hotel’s offerings. The hotel would be well suited to midweek corporate business, a civil wedding licence could be applied for and the restaurant opening hours could be increased. The hotel is currently closed over Christmas and there is certainly potential for it to be open.
“The Burgoyne is a charming hotel in a stunning location which attracts tourists throughout the year. There’s currently multiple income streams which offer great potential to be increased. The Burgoyne would make an ideal lifestyle or investment opportunity for the new owners.” Says William Grant, Managing Director at Fox Grant.
The Burgoyne is being jointly marketed by Fox Grant and Savills with a guide of £850,000. To arrange a viewing or discuss the hotel in more detail call Savills on 0161 2447752 or Fox Grant on 01722 782727.
