Fox Grant MD Rides In Old Berks Hunt Scurry

News at Fox Grant | 02/03/2017

William Grant the Managing Director of Fox Grant is to compete at the Old Berks Hunt Scurry on Sunday 5th March.

The Old Berks Hunt race is a scurry (an old style point to point) over approximately 2.5 miles of the best Old Berks Hunt countryside, including hedges, rails and ditches.

There will be three races on the day, The Open, Non-Thoroughbred Hunt Race and the Cirencester University Race - for past and present RAC/RAU Students.

William is a regular hunt ride & team chase competitor and is using the event as a warm up for the team chase season. William will be flying the Fox Grant colours and competing on both his horses, Skipper and Harry on Sunday.

Skipper Robin is an ex French Race horse in training with Nigel Twiston Davis.  Skipper Horse HuntingSkipper is a 10 year old, 16.2 bay gelding. William has owned Skipper for 2 years and in that time has team chased him, taken him on hunt rides, competed in Inter Hunt Relays (2 Peterborough), ROR Shown, show jumping competitions & hunted him.  Skipper competed in the event last year but struggled with the ground and the wind.  He is unlikely to be a favourite!

Cleeve Hill Lad. ( Harry) is a thoroughbred 16.1h bay gelding, aged 9.  Harry has no Harry Race Horseracing form.  He was given to William by Paul & Vivian Williams and William has only owned him for just 9 months.  Harry has therefore done very little other than hunted and schooled and competed in a couple of team chases, the Pychley , Grafton & Cotswold.  Harry will do well to complete! But William, the experienced jockey that he is will bring out the best in him.
