August 2006, Fox Grant’s auction division were asked to sell a block of agricultural / amenity land in Wood Green Hampshire, to the south of Salisbury. The land fronted the village road and extended round the back of some houses, so there was some very long term investment potential as development. However, it was largely anticipated a local buyer would purchase it for equestrian use and make into paddocks.
The 4 acre site was lotted into 2 lots of 2 acres each and offered with an auction guide of £30,000 per lot. On 2 August bidding interest went outside the area to a North Wiltshire farming family who bought both lots for equestrian use. And so a British record was set by Fox Grant for agricultural land at £44,000 per acre. |
