One of three attractive traditional Hampshire villages, Nether Wallop takes its name from the nearby chalkstream of the Wallop Brook. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book and was held at the time of the Conquests by King Harold whose mother lived here. Some of the first cricket bats are said to have been made from willows growing in the Wallop Brook and later crops included watercress.
