The surrounding countryside is as stunning as it is diverse, encompassing rolling pasture, spectacular uplands and World Heritage status Jurassic coastlines, all most famously enshrined in the prose of Thomas Hardy. Scattered amongst this natural beauty are scores of enchanting and historic villages including Montacute, Cerne Abbas (with its famous chalk Giant) and Evershot, which have benefitted from strict local planning laws keeping their architectural heritage intact, whilst providing homes to modern, vibrant communities.
