Fox Grant On Spire FM War Of The Works

“Come on” he said.  “It’ll be fun” he said, “and good PR”.   The team groaned.  “Go on then, William, you’re the boss”.  And that’s how it all began.

On the first Monday, the unflappable William, tentatively picked up the phone to Chris Wright at Spire FM and since then, we haven’t looked back.  We’ve had our ups and we’ve had our downs but what’s taken us all by surprise is how much fun we’ve had.  The team have really pulled together and it’s been fascinating to see who knows what and who the most competitive members of our team are…. William Grant (no surprise)!

In the first round we played Cloud Pay in Andover.  It was a tense week.  We started off playing catch up but luck was on our side and we managed to pip them to the post and find our way to the top of the War Of The Works leader board for 2016.  In the semi-final we came up against Pritchett Butchers who gave us a real run for our money.  William bribed us with a box of Quality Street and this spurred us on and led us into a nail biting double tie breaker.  It all came down to this question:

“According to the Salisbury Council Annual Report, how many markets & events took place in 2015/2016”

Fox Grant estate agents answered 160 and Pritchetts Butchers answered 180.  The answer was 159… we had WON, we couldn’t believe it, the excitement and the smiles on our faces was totally overwhelming.  We never thought in a million years we would make it to the final, but here we were, two wins and two pizzas under our belt and a place firmly secured in the War Of The Works Final.

This morning, we went to visit our new competitors over at Berry Telecom in Old Sarum.  They are a very nice bunch and appeared to be having as much fun as we are.  They kicked off the final week at 10.30 and scored a very respectable 7 out of 10.  We also put in a strong performance at 11.30 and managed to score 9 out of 10.  However, experience has taught us, anything can happen and nothing is in the bag until the final day and so it’s all to play for.

Win or lose, we’ve enjoyed the journey immensely.  We would like to thank all our competitors, Cloud Pay, Pritchetts Butchers and Berry Telecom for making it so much fun.  Spire FM and Chris Wright for encouraging us at every step of the way and all our customers for their support.  Tune in to the final four days and wish us the very best of British luck.
